Painting Class-Amy Sherald

In honor of her recent production of the portrait of Michelle Obama this month's painting class is based off of Amy Sherald. As a stylized realist painter, Amy depicts portraits of African Americans. She paints skin tones in grey scales to symbolize the gestures of not judging someone by the color of their skin but who we are on the inside. Sherald is the first African American woman to be commission for a presidential portrait. Her portraits comment on self-reflection and individuality. To love other one must start with loving yourself. For this class please bring a picture of someone that inspires you on a standard sheet of paper. $35 per person RSPV via email:
